My friends and I love to go camping. The weather being so perfect most of the year makes it easy to make camping a regular activity for us. The more we go camping, the more camping gear we need. Each year we seem to be adding to our camping gear collection.

One summer, we all decided to go camping at a site that was near a lake. We started to pack all of our camping gear and realized that we were not as prepared as we thought. We had never gone camping by the water and did not have anything to protect us from mosquitoes. One of our friends suggested that we look online for great deals on camping gear.

I went to my favorite online superstore and found more than we were looking for. Planning ahead, I even bought a few things for future camping trips. The camping gear came in time for our trip. Camping near the lake was beautiful! We went fishing in the morning and played in the lake all day. At night, we did not have to worry about bugs or getting bitten. My wife and I made a New Year's resolution to run an annual marathon after a year of training. She and I had joined gyms before and were disappointed with how they were not comfortable for us to be in and how crowded the equipment was. We decided to build our own fitness center in our house. We knew that we would need to buy fitness equipment for it but did not know where to start. Some of my fondest memories are of camping and fishing trips with my dad. We would wake up early and leave before the sun was up to get the most time at the lake. When it comes to receiving gifts, there is nothing that my husband loves more than camping gear. After six years together, finding my husband the perfect gift has become a fun, yet challenging event. For this past Valentines Day, I had a great idea.

My husband always puts me in the spotlight, but this year it was my turn to shine the light on him, literally! I was on the hunt for the perfect headlamp. My husband loves hiking, and he is often out after dark. Using a regular flashlight on long hikes is cumbersome, and the batteries never last long enough. I love the safety and convenience that the headlamp I chose offers. Better yet, when he sees the bright light guiding his way, he will always think of me.

When I first prepared to move my workout from the gym to my home, all of the fitness equipment I would need was racing through my mind. I quickly went to an online fitness equipment superstore and purchased weights, mats, a balance ball, and a scale. I was nervous, but excited to begin my healthy journey on my own, without a trainer.

It was shortly after I began my workouts that I began to get frustrated. I was feeling great, but the scale said that I was only loosing a little bit of weight. It was after only a few times on the scale that I remembered the most important piece of fitness equipment that the trainer had used at the gym: a body fat caliper!

In my eyes, the scale really can lie. I may not have been dropping pounds like crazy, but according to the caliper, I was definately dropping fat and even better, I was gaining muscle. I feel so great, and I am so happy that I have my new caliper to remind me of my new found health and fitness.

My husband does not have the most interesting job in the world, and he often finds himself without anything to do. His birthday was just last month and I bought him a very funny, but useful gift. I bought him sporting goods from our favorite online superstore.

I was so floored when I found a little putting golf set that he could use in his office! I knew that he was going to love it and I ordered it right away. Last year for Christmas, I really wanted to buy my mother something special. I knew that I wanted to buy her collectables gifts, I just did not know what I wanted to buy for her exactly. Recently, I really got it set in my mind that I wanted to start working out in a serious way. I bought a membership to my local gym and I even paid for a nutritionist to help me. I put my all into getting in shape, but I was not seeing the results that I had hoped for. I did not know what to do, but my gym coach told me about a book that I could buy online. He said that reading Ultimate Muscle Mass while continuing to use fitness equipment would help me achieve the results that I wanted.

My Cup Is My Favorite Piece Of Camping Gear

Everyone has their favorite piece of camping gear, and I am no exception. However, my favorite piece of camping gear is not what most people would expect. I absolutely can not go camping without my blue camping cup. While everyone brings styrofoam cups, I have my strong and easily recognizable cup.

I love that I never have a problem picking my cup out of a line up. Whenever we go camping in the hot summer months, I never have any problems keeping my water cold. It is the same for winter, when I have a hot drink, it always stays hot for a long time. One of the most important perks about having a metal cup is that it is environmentally friendly! I would not trade in my cup for any other camping gear.

Even though it may seem silly to be so worked up about a cup, I do not care! I like my cup so much that I am going back online to buy a backup cup. My gear would not be even close to complete without my blue camping cup.

Outdoors Sports: The Perfect Way To Spend A Spring Day

I absolutely love when it is spring time, my family is lucky to live in Arizona where spring is the most beautiful time of the year. Since the summers are so hot, I try to get the kids out of the house while the weather is nice. We have a line up of outdoors sports that we play together throughout the lovely season.

Recently I went shopping at an online superstore to buy more outdoors sports equipment. I found a really neat type of frisbee and I just had to buy it, I just knew that the kids would love it. When it arrived, we went to the park for the day to spend our time playing more outdoors sports together. We had a wonderful day playing in the lovely weather together and we did not go home until sunset.

I loved spending the whole season playing sports with the kids, I do not want them to ever become couch potatoes. I think that my kids are very healthy and that they really enjoy exercise, I plan on keeping it that way.

I bet watching the Winter Olympic Games on TV are getting many people in the mood to try some winter outdoors sports. Especially in states where the snow just keeps on coming down. Watching all those athletes in snowboarding, skiing, figure skating, ect. gets me wishing I was better at ice skating, that’s for sure. I am always amazed at these athletes determination, drive and dedication to their one sport in their hopes of winning that elusive gold medal. I was never much of a winter sports person, but my kids loved snowboarding. They are watching Shaun White on his amazing prowess on the snow board. I remember when my kids would look for many of their outdoors sports equipment online to try to emulate their favorite athletes. They had fun trying out all their sporting goods equipment, and truly appreciated what those athletes could do once they tried the various sporting goods. For me, I was never much of an athlete, but I sure enjoy watching all the winter outdoors sports that are on the Winter Olympics.

Outdoors Sports: Rock Climbing

I love rock climbing. It's one of my favorite outdoors sports. I enjoy climbing indoors, but there's something fun about going outdoors and into nature. My friends and I often have to hike a few hours to find the perfect climbing spot, but it's all worth it.

I enjoy going climbing with friends because it's such a great way to bond. I can have the deepest conversations with friends during rest time between climbs. Sometimes, we camp overnight next to our favorite climbing spot. This is a great time to tell ghost stories and eat s'mores. In the morning we're grateful to easily continue one of our favorite outdoors sports.

I personally prefer going bouldering. This is a branch of rock climbing that involves short climbs. People are usually shocked when I tell them that bouldering doesn't require rope. However, for safety precautions, it's best to have a couple of crash pads and a friend who can "spot" you.

Outdoors sports are a great way to become one with nature and get some good exercise at the same time. I know I'll be a climber for life.

My Father's Worn Out Camping Gear

My father has always been a hard-working man and I couldn't think of anyone who was more deserving of the birthday present I had been planning for him. For years, my dad, who is an outdoors sports fanatic, has received the typical collectables gifts and even fitness equipment. Though he always graciously accepted his gifts, I missed seeing that special twinkle in his eye. Growing up, I can remember the gleam in his eyes as we would take a trip to the nearest sporting goods store and get everything we needed to go camping. I wanted to see the sparkle in his eyes again and set out to make this the most memorable birthday ever.

My dad had not been camping for years and his camping gear quite worn out so I went online and ordered him some new gear and then a light bulb went on in my head. I immediately called both my brother and sister and told them to plan on going camping for Dad's birthday! Now that we are all adults with our own children this is something we had done for over a decade. I never could have imagined just how happy my dad was when he opened his presents and we told him to get packed so we could all head off to his favorite camping spot in the Sierra Nevada mountains. That day, I not only saw that familiar sparkle in his eyes, but a tear came to his eye and I knew we had given him the best birthday of his lifetime!

My Husband and Outdoors Sports

     Compared to the many husbands that are out there I would consider my husband normal. That is, until you mention the words sporting goods!
     My husband grew up in Alaska where he traipsed through the woods as a youth. Now he tells stories of his outdoors sports adventures from those times. As a boy, he would often go off to the nearby river with his fishing pole and sit happily for hours in the peace of the surrounding wilderness. It sure has given him a nice disposition as he grew into manhood.
     With his birthday coming up I wanted my gift to him to be as original as it was memorable; not the typical fitness equipment and collectables gifts he always receives. As I was contemplating what to get him, I happened to walk into the garage and the first thing that my eyes rested on was some of his well-worn camping gear. It was from then on that I was on a mission to replace his old camping gear with brand new stuff. I went online and found the perfect replacements for much of his camping gear. I could not believe the vast array of camping gear available on online superstores and because of that, the prices were incredible.
     There was one last thing I had to get the love of my life to make this his most perfect birthday ever. I found an incredible online travel package and purchased a trip to Alaska for him. He is going to be so happily surprised he will probably laugh about it for at least a day. When he returns I have no doubt that he will, with the excitement of a child, tell stories of his most recent traipsing through the woods for years to come!

Pushing the limit with outdoors sports

When visiting my son in California recently, we went on what he said was a moderate hike within the city limits. I was ready as I do outdoors sports of hiking and some biking. The hike started off easy, then the hill got steeper and steeper. I was huffing and puffing and realized I need to up my outdoors sports a bit. The easy hikes I have been taking at home are not cutting it anymore. Either I need to use some fitness equipment or my outdoors sports of hiking and biking need to be more intense. I did make it up to the top of the trail and the view below was well worth it. Going down, of course, was tricky, but very doable. There is nothing like seeing people of all sorts go up trails with some ease to realize that you need to work on your own endurance. I was glad to see people hiking to keep fit and now I know I need to try the harder trails so I won’t be so winded next time I visit my son.

I Could Always Use More Camping Gear

I do not know why, but I can not get enough camping gear. Some people like cars or jewelry, I like camping gear. Sporting goods fill my garage from floor to ceiling. Ofcourse everything is organized by season. All of my friends make fun of me because I have so much, but they don't say a word when I break out an extra sleeping bag or pack that someone might need. I also have a wide variety of outdoors sports equipment: kayaks, skis, quads and snow machines. It might seem like I have a lot but this is what my family does any chance we get so anything to keep us together.

Next weekend we are going on a 400 mile snow machine poker run. We have been waiting for the kids to get to a certain age before we do this; our youngest is fifteen and can out do me on a snow machine so I think we are ready. When I was growing up I never thought about how important my family would be to me. I never knew that it would be up to my wife and I to make sure everything is smooth and safe when we are camping or playing in the woods. I would not have it any other way.

Winter time is fast approaching and the one outdoor sports that was popular with my kids when they were growing-up was snowboarding. When they first started learning about snowboarding, we would go to many sporting goods stores and specialty stores to get decent equipment and the right winter clothing. After a few seasons of snowboarding, my kids realized that they could get better deals on boards and clothing online. From then on, they purchased much of their sporting goods items online. When the winter season was done, it was time for the outdoors sports of golf, biking and skateboarding. I was happy that the guys liked to keep active and they would motivate me to get into something too. I would try various fitness equipment, but I preferred to do some kind of outdoors sports too. I got into tennis and that is quite a work-out to say the least. Since my kids are so into golf, I will take up golf again after many years of not touching the clubs. Outdoors sports is better when you can play with family members.

The Trampoline is a piece of Fitness Equipment

The trampoline is not only fun to jump and do flips on but I think it is also an important piece of fitness equipment. Whether the trampoline is being used in your own backyard or the gym it represents a great way to get fit.

When I was growing up my family had a trampoline in the backyard. My parents bought it because they thought us kids would have fun playing on it. They were absolutely correct. The trampoline became a neighborhood draw for the kids all around the block.

My sister took exceptionally well to the trampoline. For her it became a piece of fitness equipment as she became more and more involved with tumbling, gymnastics and cheer. She was able to practice her sport at home. She shared a lot of what she learned with the rest of us and held little classes with all the neighborhood kids on that backyard trampoline.

When my sister participated in gymnastics she did real well, her favorite being the floor routine. My parents always boasted how the backyard piece of fitness equipment, IE: the trampoline, made all the difference for my sister's expertise. Perhaps they had something there!
